Rules and Regulations for Exhibit Hall Classes

  1. These rules and regulations apply to Classes 38-44 inclusive, including lettered classes.
  2. All general rules and regulations apply to Exhibit Hall Classes.
  3. In all articles of manufacture, grain, seeds, and produce, no person shall enter in the same class more than one article of each kind, which must be their own manufacture or growth.
  4. All vegetables to be grown in 2023. All fruits, etc. must be correctly named on each exhibit.
  5. Exhibit Hall Drop-off and Pick-up Schedule - Exhibit Hall entries will be accepted on Wednesday and Thursday before Labour Day, Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Judging of hall exhibits will commence at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Hall will be open for viewing by visitors Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The Exhibit Hall will close Sunday at 5 p.m. to prepare for the removal of exhibits at 5:15 p.m. One helper only is allowed. Exhibits may not be removed prior to this time. All exhibitors are responsible for picking up their goods in a timely fashion. The Exhibit Hall will close at 6 p.m. Sunday. This schedule is subject to change. All updates will be posted to our website, kinmountfair.net.

Tips for Exhibit Hall Classes

  1. To avoid line-ups and delays, please make every effort to pre-register your exhibits online at kinmountfair.net or with the fair board Secretary by Tuesday, August 29, 2023. A physical entry form is available online to print and send in.
    Entries can be mailed to: Kinmount Fair, 3174 Cty Rd 121, Burnt River, ON K0M 1C0
  2. Entry tags will not be mailed back for any entries received after Friday, August 25, 2023. These entries will be available for pick-up at the exhibit hall.
  3. The busiest time for receiving entries is Thursday between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Try to come on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning to avoid delays and line-ups. Make sure your entry tags have your name on them before putting your exhibits on display!
  4. If you have difficulty determining the Class and/or Section numbers to use for your entries, don’t hesitate to consult with the exhibit hall staff. They are there to help make the process easier for everyone!

OAAS Competitions

The 1st place entries for all sections that are Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) competitions are eligible for entry in the District 4 competition held in the fall. Rules for all Homecraft Division Classes

  1. All Exhibit Hall rules and regulations apply. See above.
  2. In all of the Homecraft Division Classes (41 to 44 inclusive, including lettered classes), all entries must be home manufactured by the exhibitor.
  3. Photography exhibits will ONLY be accepted in advance, online. See Class 44D - Photography for details.

Rules for Classes 41, 41A

  1. All pies and cakes made with commercial mixes or fillings will be disqualified.
  2. All icing must be edible.
  3. Exhibits to be shown on a plate of reasonable size, without plastic wrap.
  4. Paper cups are to be left on cupcakes, none on muffins.

Rules for Class 42 Pickles and Preserves

  1. All unsealed jars will be disqualified without being judged.
  2. Wax sealing is not allowed.
  3. Any size jar appropriate to the item displayed will be accepted with 2-piece sealing lids, unless otherwise noted.
  4. Adequate head space should be allowed (½ inch for jams/jellies; ¼ inch for conserves and 1 inch for vegetables).
  5. All entries exhibiting spoilage will be disqualified
  6. In sections 24, 25, 26, and 27, syrup bottles are allowed.
  7. Refrigeration is not available.
  8. Freezer entries should be fully defrosted at entry time.

Judging Standards: Exhibits will be judged on the following basis, unless otherwise noted:
Flavour – 35%, Appearance – 30%, Uniformity – 10%, Container/Package – 5%
No decorated tops unless specified

Rules for Classes 43A-H Homecrafts

  1. Samples must be attached to all work entered in each class.
  2. Samples include fabric, wool, embroidery floss, crochet thread and craft paint on medium.
  3. AV is defined as “Any Variety".
  4. Judges are authorized by the Board of Directors to bar all soiled, defaced or old work. Items may be moved within classes, at the discretion of the Board.

Rules for Class 44C – Art

  1. The final product, including matting and frame is not to exceed 48” in any direction.
  2. All entries must be on canvas or paper as suitable to the medium. Art completed on other media (wood, fabric, etc) are to be exhibited in the appropriate Craft section. All items must be framed, ready for hanging. Canvas wrapped stretcher frames are acceptable, but each picture must have rings or screw eyes with wire on corresponding sides of the art work. Faulty or poorly wired frames are unacceptable.
